We are just bursting with news of all things islandista these days! Between all the various summer carnivals, stage shows, parties and two big fashion weeks back to back, we are so busy it's hard to know where to start.
So, to make a dent in all the suss, we're going to hit you with another pelau post - or a pepperpot post if you will - it real mix up but it spicy and good!
First let's start with news of one of our favourite islandista mamis, Fay-Ann Lyons, who has been taking full advantage of her biggest year in soca to date.
As we reported back in May, her first post-pregnancy performance was in Toronto at Dr. Jay's I Love Soca.
We have seen the pics from the event and can we say... Fay-Ann's post baby body is just... unnecessary! How is it that a woman who just had a baby two months ago (and was round like an English pound as the fellas would say) could already be slimmer than chicks who are not pregnant at all?

Dancehall bits and pieces...
So we have pure news from yaad for you this morning, starting with a review of the style on display at the Hype TV awards weekend before last.
To be honest, judging from the pics I've seen on yardflex, most of them just 'nuh mek it' as Jamaicans say. I know it's dancehall but a lot of the outfits were way flashy and over the top.
Barbee for instance, seemed to be channeling a flamenco dancer in a red and gold frilled satin atrocity when she appeared on the red carpet with video director Jay Will.

Purported style icon, former model and boutique owner D'Angel also had a flop with insanely frizzy hair and a slightly tacky looking little black dress. It wasn't terrible but it just wasn't good either.

Queen Ifrica's outfit was not a miss but it was not a hit either. It was a pretty decent long purple and white gown but it just did not have any wow factor IMO.

The one outfit that I really did like - I can't even find out who is the person wearing it since it wasn't captioned and I ent so familiar with every single smaddy in di dancehall fraternity.

It's unusual and truth be told it may not be everyone's cup of tea, what with the big bow going down the middle but I think it's cute and funky, love the angles and folds in the dress and the hot colours. You have to have attitude to work a dress like this and she's working it.
Onward... speaking of D'Angel, it looks like she is really kicking Beenie to the curb for good this time, despite the happy families show we saw from them a few months ago at Marco Dean's 2nd birthday party. After his outburst the other day on Ed Lover's radio programme, she like she decide it's time to make things right in the 09.

Beenie dogging out D'Angel, Barbee
Oh Beenie, Beenie, Beenie...
Why you have to move soap-opera-ish so? You can't just leave well enough alone? 'No comment' ent gine burn yuh tongue you know.
Once again, Beenie Man is out there talking his wife D'Angel's name ... and he threw in a side swipe at ex-girlfriend-who-he-never-publicly-acknowledged-despite-being-seen-everywhere-together Barbee too.

In an interview on Ed Lover's Morning show on Power 105 in New York recently, he dogged D'Angel, his on-again, off-again wife, rehashing the various problems and accusations he had levelled against her as many as two years ago.
From one876 entertainment (btw, welcome back!)
But he had even harsher words for Barbee while publicly acknowledging for the first time their more than year-long relationship. He said she was 'crazy' and said she "wanted a Chris Brown-Rihanna thing, and I couldn’t deal with that".
Tsk.
Why Beenie Man always have to have somebody name in he mouth so, though? He moving real womanish, no lie. Perhaps... just perhaps he needs to check himself. With so many failed relationships, the problem may well be him.

He rehashed past accusations he had levied against his estranged wife, D'Angel, saying that he thought she was the 'one' but that she had changed during the course of the relationship.

D'Angel and Beenie play happy families
Boy, you just can't keep up with this drama couple. Two years back it was all love and tears and a rush to the altar, last year it was pure war and accusations and furniture pelting out and now last weekend they moving like the dancehall Cosbys or something - all happy families and ting.
Dancehall's leading soap opera couple Beenie Man and D'Angel looked happy as papi last weekend as they jointly hosted a celeb-studded party for their son Marco Dean's 2nd birthday at the Jamaica Pegasus. One876entertainment reported on it and said:
Awww ... ain't that cute? Beenie bought lil MD a toy Escalade and older cousin Bobbie chauffeured him into the party area in grand style (cos you know, 2 year olds' hand-eye co-ordination still isn't that great - don't want MD driving into a wall). Check the photo gallery here.
So does this mean the on-again, off-again, on-again, off-A-DAMN-GAIN couple are on again? Is it one of those cases of can't live with them, can't live without them? Or are they just getting to the 'let's be civil for the sake of the children' stage?
We'll see.
In other islandista couple news, Rihanna and Chris Brown have been seen out and about Down Under and she looks well recovered from her stage almost-collapse last week in Sydney. They were looking cute as buttons and extra-cuddly partying in Sydney the other night and arriving in Perth in matching outfits yesterday.

Real talk now ... who ever thought these kids would last this long? It's been nearly a year, if not more, because I remember Rihanna winning her Grammy in early February and bringing Chris home for the big celebration in Bridgetown and by that time, they were already tight. Good for them.

The Gardens at the Pegasus was the venue for Marco Dean's Super Sweet second birthday party and several of the artiste's closest friends showed up to celebrate with them. The party kicked off at about 3:30 p.m. when D'Angel arrived with Marco Dean. Beenie greeted his wife and youngest son, and together, three of them walked into the party. Beenie looked quite dapper in a blue suit with a white vest while D'Angel was quite beautiful and looked motherly and almost humble in a charming, flowing dress.

Beenie and D'Angel to reunite?
Rumblings out of Jamaica are that Beenie Man and his now ex-wife D'Angel may be getting back together. Yardflex dropped hints about it twice in the last week or so.
I think the whole Caribbean and its diaspora knows the whole tale of Beenie and D'Angel's drama-filled relationship by now, from stealing way his arch-rival's woman to the big wedding (and the rifts that caused in the Alliance) to the nasty, nasty divorce, complete with furniture being tossed out, allegations of unfaithfulness and demands of paternity tests.
So could it be that these two are the Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton of the Caribbean? Can't live with each other, can't live without each other? What a t'ing! And where does this leave Barbee, who up to a few weeks ago was denying rumours that she is with child for Beenie?
